Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity and inclusion are part of the very fabric of SBS: they are at the core of our Charter, at the centre of our purpose and strategy, and at the heart of how we tell stories, connect with audiences, and recruit and engage our people.

A diverse team

SBS is an incredibly diverse organisation, committed to reflecting and representing the diversity of the communities we serve across our teams, just as we are committed to doing so through our content.

An inclusive workplace

SBS is committed to being a leader in inclusion. We embrace difference and recognise that when we all belong and can participate fully, we thrive. We acknowledge that this work is never done and continue to pursue ways to enhance our diversity and inclusion practices.

Diverse perspectives and inclusive storytelling

SBS plays a vital and ongoing role in contributing to the diversity of the Australian media and advancing inclusion in the sector. SBS is committed to reflecting and exploring the diversity of Australia in the distinctive programs we commission, and providing pathways through a range of initiatives for creatives under-represented in our sector. We believe the Australian screen sector can be lifted to even greater heights when everyone who wants to participate has equal opportunity to succeed.

Deep connections with communities

As Australia’s multicultural and Indigenous broadcaster, home to National Indigenous Television (NITV) and more than 60 language services, SBS has deep and unrivalled connections with Australia’s diverse communities. We support and extend our content with engagement activities across Australia, working with communities to tell their stories.
